Al-Manar Language School was founded on September 15, 1992, by Mrs. Khadija Abdul Wahab to address the growing demand for high-quality private language education in Ismailia. Situated in a primarily residential area surrounded by four other schools, Al-Manar stands out as the largest institution, offering comprehensive programs from Nursery to Secondary levels, including the Egyptian National curriculum, IGCSE, and the American Diploma.
The school initially opened with classes for KG1, KG2, and Grade One, with a deliberate strategy to build a strong foundation. While it was financially feasible to launch all grade levels at once, the administration chose a more focused approach, prioritizing educational excellence. By starting small and selecting the most qualified teachers, Al-Manar was able to grow steadily, maintaining its commitment to quality education. Since then, the school has expanded significantly.
Al-Manar was designed to cater to middle and upper-class families seeking a solid education for their children, with a special emphasis on English language proficiency. In 2001, the school introduced the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) program, enhancing its academic offerings. In response to requests from parents in the National English program, the American Diploma program was launched in 2005, beginning with kindergarten and eventually expanding to include all grade levels.
